Local rescue expertise helps trapped Chilean miners
It’s a survival tale unlike any the world has seen. Dozens of miners trapped 700m underground in Chile were found to be alive after 17 days, but will have to wait until Christmas before they see daylight again. The Lake Macquarie-based NSW Mine Rescue Service is sharing its expertise with Chile, after having also been involved with the Beaconsfield rescue.
